In 2015 he received his PhD in biology from CMU and then took on a post-doc position at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York. Shortly after, he enrolled at the Carnegie Mellon University into the Faculty of Biology. A year later joined Smith's official website, to protect his privacy and began at the University of Oregon molecular genetics to to study. In May 2006 he received a Master of Science degree in mathematics from the University of Virginia, at the age of 16.
